Rules of  the 13th „Gheorghe Dima” International Music Competition

7 –11 february 2011, Cluj-Napoca, Romania


Art.1

“Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy is holding an international competition from 7 to 11 February 2011 for Flute and Clarinet.

Art.2

Conditions:

- The competition is open to flautists and clarinetists of all nationalities under the age of 35 born no earlier than February 7, 1976.
- The candidates will pay an application fee of EUR 70 (net of bank commissions)

Submitted applications must include the following documents:

– completed application form (download here)
– a recent passport type color photo
– a short curriculum vitae  Romanian, French or English (max. one page A4)
– a copy of the candidate’s ID or passport
– confirmation of payment (application fee) according to Art.3

Art.3

The application fee will be sent by bank transfer to” Gh. Dima” Music Academy’s bank account:
RO67 RNCB 0106 0266 1748 0004 at  BCR - Banca Comercială Română, mentioning the candidate’s name and the message “application fee for “Gh.Dima” International Music Competition”.
There will be no refunds due to candidate’s cancellations.

Art.4

The deadline for the applications is January 15 - 2011 – postage or courier stamp. Candidates will receive confirmation by February 1 – 2011.The applications will be sent to the Secretariat of the competition:
“Gh. Dima” Music Academy , P. O. Box 284, Cluj Napoca, Romania

There is a maximum number of 100 contestants for each discipline therefore we encourage applicants to submit their applications as early as possible .

Art.5

The candidates will personally confirm their identity using their ID or passport.

Art.6

The order of  performance will be determined by drawing of lots which  will take place at the opening ceremony  - The Studio concert hall at the “Gh.Dima” Music Academy ,February 7 - 2011, at 18.30. The presence of all candidates is requested while the lots are being drawn.

Art.7

The jury will consist of prominent musicians from Romania and other countries around the world.
The jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.
The jury reserves the right to listen to the entire piece or just parts, fragments.

Art.8

All rounds of the competition are open to public.Competitors may perform the works in any order they choose. Performing from memory is NOT compulsory.

Art.9

All candidates will receive participation diplomas. The prizes will be presented to the laureates by members of the jury at a formal ceremony.

Art.10

The winners are expected to take part in the prize giving ceremony and the Gala Concert on February 11, 2011 The Studio concert hall at the “Gh. Dima “ Music Academy at 7 PM for receiving their prizes and for playing the piece selected by the jury.
If the candidates refuse, they will not receive their prize.

Art.11

The candidates will have their own accompanists for the competition. In the event that the candidates do not have their own accompanist, the organizers of the competition will provide accompanists but the costs will be fully supported by the candidates which will contact them directly for hire as personal accompanists.

Art.12

Travel, accomodation and all other expenses will be supported by the candidates.  
The organizers will prepare a list of hotels and pensions in Cluj-Napoca.

Art. 13

By entering the competition the candidates agree the following: The organizers reserve the right to make audio and video recordings , photos and to broadcast on  radio, TV or on the internet, all rehearsals, competition rounds and concerts. The candidates and their accompanists are not entitled to claim any remuneration for these recordings. Also, the winners will perform in the Gala Concert without a fee.
